This webinar is ideally suited to anyone who is responsible for overseeing the work of volunteers or is keen to start up a volunteering programme.


Details

A dynamic practice workshop designed by CVAA and PACT service to help you explore with peers the key themes and challenges involved in managing volunteers. This interactive workshop will provide attendees with the opportunity to share their experience of volunteering, gain new insights and ideas and a shared understanding of what volunteering means.

About the trainers

Michelle Wallis is HR Manager for Parents and Children Together (PACT).  PACT is one of the UK’s leading independent adoption charities and a specialist therapeutic family support provider.  PACT also runs community projects supporting vulnerable children and adults facing a range of complex issues, including Bounce Back 4 Kids and Alana House.  Michelle enjoys a varied HR generalist role including both HR operational activity and organisational development initiatives such as employee wellbeing and staff engagement.   Michelle started her HR career in the retail sector in various HR roles, before joining the Civil Service as HR Manager.  More recently she has been with an international development NGO for nearly 9 years as HR Business Partner, before joining PACT last year.  New to the area of adoption and local community services, Michelle is inspired daily by the positive energy and commitment of her PACT colleagues in achieving their goals to help and empower others.

Helen Alaneme has a dual role at Parents and Children Together (PACT) working as HR Assistant and Bounce Back 4 Kids Administrator. As HR Assistant her key activities involve the recruitment and onboarding of employees, contractors and adoption panel members and administering learning and development. Helen’s previous role of 13 years was with a youth development charity as UK Programme Manager, which involved organising voluntary placements in the UK for young people from overseas. Helen is also new to the area of adoption and local community services and enjoys being able to support her PACT colleagues in a charity that she finds amazing and inspiring.

Christine Roe joined PACT as a receptionist in April 2017 after a long career in the Health Service. She was appointed as Volunteer Coordinator in May 2019 and has the pleasure of recruiting and retaining volunteers to engage in all aspects of PACT’s work. PACT currently has 36 volunteers and 12 Trustees and Christine looks after their HR needs and ensures regular communication and involvement with the organisation.
